1. In what ways did the writer follow the editorial format in the essay?

2. In what ways did the writer not follow the format?

3. Is there a clear thesis? If so, what is it?

4. What concrete examples does the writer use? Are these convincing? How might more examples be used to make the essay more convincing?

5. What concessions does the writer make to the opposing views? Does she adequately refute these concessions? How might this part of the essay be stronger?

6. What authority does the writer quote as evidence for her point of view? Is the authority reliable? Does it support her position?

7. Are the lengths of the paragraphs effective? How might changes make the essay more effective?

8. What are some other ways you can think of to make this essay more effective?
